After 19 years as founder and leader of Genopole, Pierre Tambourin has handed over management to Jean-Marc Grognet. A graduate from the prestigious Ecole Polytechnique, former Director of Research at the Inserm among many other achievements, Pierre Tambourin dedicated his time and energy over the last two decades to boosting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of Life Sciences at Evry.
Commander of the Legion of Honour and Commander of the National Order of Merit, Pierre Tambourin is member of the National Academy of Technologies of France.
Jean-Marc Grognet took up his position as CEO of Genopole on 1st February. He was formerly the head of the Institute of Biomedical Imaging (I2BM), and directed "Technologies for Health", a transversal program of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA).
A graduate of the Paris-Descartes University School of Pharmacy (1980) and the Sorbonne Graduate Business School (1984), Jean-Marc Grognet also holds a PhD in molecular pharmacology and an HDR (accreditation to supervise research), both obtained from Paris-Descartes University in 1984 and 1998 respectively.

Global Bioenergies Makes Headline News Once Again
In an exclusive partnership entered with Global Bioenergies, a Genopole company, Butagaz becomes the first distributor in France to market butane and propane containing bio-isobutene.
Butagaz, a leading French brand distributing gas in bottles and tanks, continues its innovation drive to contribute to meeting France's greenhouse gas emissions reduction target. The partnership with Global Bioenergies aims at incorporating batches of bio-isobutene produced at Global Bioenergies' demo plant as early as 2017 and then by the first commercial bio-isobutene plant ever built in France. |

The crowdfunding campaign launched by Metafora on SmartAngels has just come to a close, with almost €1.2M raised by the Genopole company, taking into account the investments of several business angels. |

In the wake of this great achievement, METAFORA biosystems and Laboratoire Cerba are proud to announce the availability of the innovative test METAglut1 in routine biology to help diagnose GLUT1 deficiency syndrome (GLUT1-DS).
The METAglut1 test is a true medical innovation, the first ever diagnostics test to illustrate a dysfunction in cells’ nutrition. It received the EC logo at the end of January. |

Genopole – An Inspiration for the Japanese
The Japanese government is planning to build a medical biocluster on the island of Okinawa, South of the Japanese archipelago, within the grounds of a disaffected American military base.

A delegation of 20 led by Watabe Akira, Deputy Director General for Okinawa Affairs, and Takahashi Yuichi, Director for Policy Coordination, Directorate for Okinawa Affairs, along with representatives of the Japanese government, the University of Ryukyu and the Nomura Institute, visited Genopole to draw inspiration from the French model. |

Colloquium Biology and Medicine of the Future
On 27 May at the Grand Palais in Paris Genopole organised the Colloquium Biologie et médecine du futur, under the high patronage of Thierry Mandon, Minister of State for Higher Education and Research. Among many other subjects, the conference discussed the clinical translation of cancer genomics, the Genomic Medicine 2025 French plan, a personalised approach to cardiovascular diseases, regenerative medicine and synthetic biology. Pierre Tambourin, who was awarded the Insignia of Commander of the Legion of Honour in recognition for his life-time's work, was a key speaker at the colloquium. The conference was also be honoured to host Yves Levy, CEO of the Inserm, Elain Mardis from Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, USA, the Scientific Director of I-Stem, Marc Peschanski, Fulvio Mavilio from Genethon, and many others. |

Save The Date - Summer School Genopole 2017 - Bioinformatic And Biostatistic Tools In Medical Genomics
Register for the Summer School at Genopole from 4-7 July.
The programme will cover statistical methodologies and bioinformatics tools used in genomics and metagenomics in the context of a comprehensive approach of pathological mechanisms.
The programme will also include lectures by guest speakers as well as hands-on computer sessions with experts in the field.
