French Tech

Just the Ticket for Stratio


The Korean-American company Stratio has earned its French Tech Ticket to set up shop at Genopole!
The Genopole biocluster has been selected by the French Tech Ticket programme which aims to attract to France international teams in the creation or development stage of innovative start-ups.
The cluster will be welcoming the Korean-American start-up Stratio along with its co-founder and CEO Jae Hyung Lee.
Stratio will be joining the ranks of international companies (AATI, AB Sciences, NEB, Arianne Clinical Research, Pharming…) who have chosen the biocluster to develop their R&D or business operations in France.
This strengthens our position as leading French biocluster and reinforces our international visibility” says Laurent Pépin, International Project Manager at Genopole.

Yposkesi Welcomes Alain Lamproye, An Expert in Industrial Bioproduction, As its Chief Executive Officer


YposKesi, the first French pharmaceutical company to develop and manufacture gene and cell therapy products for rare diseases, created by the non-for-profit organization AFM-Téléthon and the SPI fund managed by Bpifrance, announced today the appointment of Alain Lamproye as its Chief Executive Officer.
Alain Lamproye brings more than 25 years of experience in Europe and the United States in the field of industrial bioproduction. YposKesi will benefit from his unique expertise in bioproduction management and in the manufacturing of products generated from biotechnologies and gene therapy.

NOVAprep® Expands its Commercial Reach Thanks to a Regulatory Update in the US and China

Novacyt, a Genopole company and international specialist in clinical diagnostics, announced a regulatory update for its next generation NOVAprep® technology platform in the US and China.
Novacyt has successfully registered its NOVAprep® HQ+ Orange vial as a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Class I device, allowing the NOVAprep® vial to be purchased by providers who can qualify the NOVAprep® vial for cytology or molecular use in the US market.
Furthermore, Novacyt has received CFDA (China Food and Drug Administration) approval for the NOVAprep® system for non-gynaecological cancer testing in China.
This is in addition to the CFDA approval, given in February 2015, for NOVAprep® use in cervical cancer screening.
This approval means Novacyt, through its direct subsidiary in China, can immediately market the NOVAprep® system in other cancer areas.

Theraclion

Theraclion Announces First Patients Treated in U.S. Pivotal Multicentre FDA Study


Theraclion, a Genopole company specialized in leading-edge medical equipment for echotherapy, announced that the first patients were treated in the U.S. pivotal clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Echopulse® echotherapy as a non-invasive treatment of breast fibroadenomas (BFAs).

 
The prospective clinical trial will enroll approximately 100 patients at four centers in the U.S. and one in Europe. Patients will receive a single high-intensity ultrasound treatment with Echopulse®. The primary endpoint is a reduction of fibroadenoma volume, pain and anxiety. The first two cases were treated at the UVA site on January 20th, 2017.

Visit of the President of Genome Quebec, Daniel Coderre

Genopole hosted the President of Genome Quebec (GQ), Dr. Daniel Coderre, who took his new functions as CEO of GQ in October 2016.

Relations between Genopole and GQ go back many years as the founder (and ex-CEO) of Genopole, Dr. Pierre Tambourin, was President of GQ’s Scientific Advisory Board for a number of years. GQ is a research and development organization that contributes to strengthening the competitiveness of the genomics innovation system (whilst maximising its socioeconomic impact) in Quebec.

The Association of University Research Parks (AURP) has announced the election of five new Board members at its annual Spring Training held in Tempe (Arizona) in early March. New Board appointees include Denis Gauvreau, Director of International Affairs at Genopole. AURP’s mission is to foster innovation, commercialization and economic growth in a global economy through university, industry and government partnerships.

Two Genopole Companies Among the Finalists


Two Genopole companies were present among the 12 finalists of the EU Prize for Women Innovators 2017.

 
Prof Barbara Demeneix, co-founder of WatchFrog in Evry, which provides novel solutions to screen water quality and environmental pollutants affecting health, was among the 9 finalists of the Women Innovators category.
Ms Sandra Rey was among the 3 finalists for the new Rising Innovators Award with her biotech company Glowee which creates bioluminescent light without electricity.
